Directed Energy Weapons: Lasers coming from the sky! What happened on the island of Maui in Hawaii?

The island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii has been experiencing devastating wildfires since August 10. According to news reports, at least 36 people have been killed in a fire in the town of Lahaina and the island has become a disaster area. The fires also caused the evacuation of thousands of residents and tourists.

There are many possible causes for these fires, including drought, which has increased the risk of forest and farm fires: Climate change that affected the rainfall pattern and temperatures in Hawaii and negligence or vandalism by some who set fire to some areas. But there is another version.

A Hawaii wildfire survivor claimed the island fires were not a natural disaster.

The pioneers of social networking sites also broadcast video clips (we could not prove their authenticity), claiming to reveal the real cause of the fires on the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii.

The video shows a powerful laser coming from the sky as it hits a building on one of the island’s main streets. Several social media accounts claimed that the laser caused the disaster. 

There were a lot of unusual moments during the fire itself. So several shots were taken from drones, in which the fire spread as if in rings:

Just before the fire, a wind blew up on the island, which knocked down the pillars that had stood for 150 years:

The island of Maui is quite large, there are almost 770 square miles. But for some reason the city burned out, although the forests were not badly damaged.

A possible explanation for the tragic event came from California, where the start of a fire in the city looked like this:

At first glance, gasoline is on fire, flowing from a gas station, but it’s not gasoline – it’s just a regular sidewalk.

There are some conspiracy theories that claim that the fires are the result of an attack, government intervention or a failed scientific experiment. But these theories are not based on solid or reliable evidence and have been debunked by local and federal authorities.

Directed energy weapons

Directed energy weapons are weapons that fire a beam of energy at a target without firing a projectile. This energy can be electromagnetic, particle or subparticle. These weapons can be used for non-lethal or lethal purposes.

The United States of America is one of the countries working to develop directed energy weapons for military purposes, expecting them to become part of the future of warfare.

Directed energy weapons are divided into different types depending on the type of energy used. Some common types are:

Laser: Uses a high energy beam of light to damage or disable a target

Microwave Oven: Uses short electromagnetic waves to cause heat or electric shock to the target

Particles: Uses accelerated particles such as electrons or protons to penetrate or detonate a target

China: They can fire indefinitely

As the South China Morning Post reports, representatives from the country’s National University of Defense Technology say they have developed a state-of-the-art cooling system that will allow high-energy lasers to remain on “infinitely” without getting too hot.

While laser technology has been around for decades, these high-energy beams produce so much excessive heat that they have often stymied previous attempts at similar weapons systems around the world.

The new Chinese cooling system, according to the report, will use gas blown through the weapon to remove excess heat and allow the weapons to fire precise laser beams indefinitely without loss of power or distortion.

“High-quality beams can be produced not only in the first second, but also maintained indefinitely,” the team wrote in a new paper on the cooling technology, published in the Chinese journal Acta Optica Sinica.

Arms Race

The United States, as the South China Morning Post (SCMP) notes, often deals with similar technology. But these projects largely failed to become mainstream weapons because, as the report suggests, they simply weren’t destructive enough.

In a tweet about the reports, former British military official Steve Weaver noted that if the news is true, it would put China ahead of the United States in more ways than one.

“Along with providing a supposedly cheaper alternative to old-school missile systems because traditional munitions would not be needed, these lasers could also be used to shoot down satellites like those provided by Elon Musk’s Starlink system,” military officials scientists said at SCMP.

The claims should, of course, be taken seriously until we see the system in action. However, it is not out of the realm of possibility.
