“Why do we need so many people?” – Historian explains how depopulation will unfold

Historian and author Yuval Noah Harari, a top adviser to the World Economic Forum and Klaus Swab, spoke in a recent speech about what the future holds.

What bothered him was what would happen to the majority of people on Earth. “The major political and economic question of the 21st century will be ‘why do we need people or at least why do we need so many people?’

When asked what his answer to this problem was, he said: 

“At the moment the best guess we have is that we should keep them happy with drugs and video games.”

It should be noted that he had spoken about this issue before and said: “You have no answers in the Bible about what we will do when people are no longer useful to the economy. You need new ideologies and religions and they are likely to come from Silicon Valley rather than the Middle East and they are likely to give people technology-based visions. 

“Everything that was promised by religions, happiness, justice and even eternal life will be experienced here with the help of technology and not afterlife.”

“I believe that the future belongs to the technological religions,” he added.

“In the future it will be very easy for a person to change gender, or even create a new gender. We see it with avatars. In 30-40 years there will be a 3D life that will be more exciting than life in the real world, with an economy that they will no longer need. In such a case I do not believe that the sexes as we know them now and for thousands of years will remain the same. “As a historian, I try to change even a little bit our attachment to the past,” Harari said.
