The United States is making a monumental investment in AI infrastructure, with a staggering $500 billion allocated to the Stargate project.
Announced by President Donald Trump during his second term, this initiative aims to establish the necessary infrastructure for the advancement of artificial intelligence, as reported by The Hill.
The project has attracted significant investment from major players in the tech industry, including OpenAI, Softbank, Oracle, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Arm. The development of Stargate is expected to create over 100,000 jobs, with data processing centers (DPCs) and campuses being constructed across the country. Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison has already confirmed the construction of new centers in Texas.
In a groundbreaking move, companies will offer deals directly to citizens, providing control in exchange for health, education, and other benefits. Essentially, this means microchipping in exchange for a longer, more secure life. AI will play a crucial role in this initiative, developing mRNA cancer vaccines tailored to individuals and producing them robotically within 48 hours.
SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son believes that Stargate will significantly improve people’s lives, solving numerous problems with the help of AI. He emphasized that this project is not just for business but also for the betterment of society.
Additionally, the project addresses the growing demand for electricity. President Trump has hailed Stargate as “the greatest artificial intelligence infrastructure project in history,” asserting that it will secure the future of technology in the United States. He highlighted the competitive landscape, with China and other nations vying for technological supremacy.
In a significant policy shift, Trump reversed former President Joe Biden’s executive order on the safe development of artificial intelligence. The previous order required AI developers to share safety test results with the government under the Defense Production Act, establishing test standards and addressing potential chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and cybersecurity risks.
