A story from astrologers appeared on the official Instagram of the US Army department as part of an advertisement for a recruiting company:
“Wondering what your Zodiac sign says about the kind of Soldier you could be in the Army? You’ll just have to click through our Instagram Story to find the answer because our lips are sealed over here,” the post says, and the zodiac characteristics are posted on the pictures replacing each other for potential recruits.
“What does your zodiac sign say about you?” the service asked in a short video.
Subscriber comments varied
from “Please tell me this is not real?” and
“I wanted it so badly it was fake.”
to “This is proof that the terrorists have already won” and “This is what the army has become. It’s good that I left. “
The Army has a relatively small following on Instagram, but its zodiac-inspired recruiting pitch made its way over to Twitter, where a great many people were not inclined to tolerate the direction the branch is headed.
By the way, this is not the first “controversial” Pentagon advertising campaign.
Last month, many were outraged and shocked by a series of animated videos – military service advertisements in which a cartoon girl, a child from a same-sex family, participating in actions for tolerance, suddenly decided to become a soldier.
Then Ted Cruz, the Senator from Texas criticized the US “emasculated army” for which the Democrats immediately accused him of spreading “Russian propaganda.”
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, said that “such theses can be used by American opponents – Russia and China.”
“We represent the United States of America. We need to look like America,” Austin commented on the ad.
