What Happens When a Person Dies: Understanding the incomprehensible

While Japanese schoolchildren, illuminated by the samurai spirit, write essays about death, their European peers drive away such gloomy thoughts. This is partly due to a reluctance to acknowledge life after death.

Moreover, people of European civilization are not ready to reincarnate into another being, especially into a plant or animal. They certainly need to be reborn in their usual body. The Zoroastrians believed that this would happen at a flourishing young age for carnal pleasures.

What happens immediately after death

The topic of near-death experiences is shamelessly exploited by domestic channels, not so much talking about this most interesting and largely unexplored phenomenon, as profaning and simplifying the phenomenon. Unfortunately, not only we …

American streaming media Netflix claims that life after death does exist. Showed a jumble of phenomena completely refuted by science along with questions of faith.

Surviving Death is based on the book of the same name by American journalist Leslie Kean, who is best known for her lightweight UFO articles and bestselling paranormal novels. The author describes near-death experiences, sessions of mediums, ghost hunting, and phantom memories from past lives.

“When you say, ‘God exists,’ science cannot do anything about that statement, but when you say, ‘God, I beg you to move this glass.’ This can already be verified,” says Richard Wiseman, professor of psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. ).

To vulgarize the incomprehensible

Testimonies of near-death experiences prove that people can remember this after clinical death. This does not mean at all that this cannot be, these mystical in nature experiences, perhaps, only prove that brain activity and consciousness after cardiac arrest sometimes persist longer than expected by seasoned materialists.

One of the 2018 issues of the journal Frontiers in Psychology published the results of a study from which it follows that NDEs have much in common with how people feel after taking the psychedelic N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT). It is produced by the pineal gland (pineal gland) during REM sleep in the mammalian brain. A 2019 study confirmed that DMT levels rise in rats during cardiac arrest.

However, studying the moment of death in humans is so complex that no one has conclusively demonstrated the mechanism underlying NDEs. Sam Parnia, director of Intensive Care and Resuscitation Research at New York University’s Langon Medical Center, interviewed cardiac arrest survivors and found that of the 140 respondents, 46% were conscious.

Some of them retained memories of their stay in the intensive care unit, where they were placed after the recovery of their heartbeat. In contrast to films, patients who have experienced clinical death are usually unconscious for several days or weeks after resuscitation. For example, patients who reported feeling tortured by hostile creatures likely experienced a common hallucination that occurs when people are sedated by removing their breathing tubes from sedation.

According to preliminary data presented at the American Heart Association’s symposium on resuscitation in 2019, of the 165 patients tested, 44 survived – of whom 21 were interviewed. Of these two dozen illnesses, four reported memories, including feelings of peace and joy, seeing relatives, and talking to people indoors. No one remembered the images presented on the computer monitor, but one remembered the sound.

“When death overtakes us, we get transcendental and mystical – whatever you call it – experiences that do not correspond to hallucinations,” says Parnia.

He was asked to take part in the documentary, but he turned down the producers because the series did not differentiate between scientific research on topics such as memories of death experiences and pseudoscience about ghosts and mediums.

Five stages that occur after the death according to an ambulance doctor

Dr. Thomas Fleischman, who has worked as an ambulance doctor for over 35 years, spoke about the experiences of those who “returned after death.” He has witnessed the death of nearly two thousand people, and has interviewed hundreds of NDE patients.

Speaking at a scientific conference in Hamburg in 2014, Dr. Fleischmann said that the experience of people who have experienced clinical death can be divided into 5 stages:

  • In the first stage, sudden changes occur when the pain disappears instantly. Anxiety, fear and external sounds also disappear. There is calmness and serenity. Some experience a state of joy, while some suddenly realize that they are dead.
  • In the second stage, an “out-of-body experience” begins when a person hovers over his body and sees himself from the outside. He sees the doctors trying to bring him back to life.
  • The third stage is perceived as comfortable for 98-99% of people, and the remaining 2% talked about terrible sounds, smells and creepy creatures.
  • In the third stage, people, in the midst of complete darkness, begin to see a very bright light that radiates heat and attracts to itself.
  • At the fifth stage, 10% of those who survived clinical death found themselves in a beautiful environment, flowers, beautiful music and felt a feeling of love. At this stage, meetings with previously deceased relatives often occur. Some talked about encounters with a creature made of light. Love exudes from him and people felt happy in this place.

A doctor who worked as the head of an emergency medical department in Germany said that they had no explanation for this phenomenon. It is impossible even to assume, since at the time of clinical death there is completely no brain activity. Despite the fact that there is no scientific explanation for this, we know that this phenomenon exists.
