For a few hours, the compromised Vatican website was accessible to the public. The homepage displayed a banner which, when clicked, redirected users not to the usual articles and reports, but to a temporary site showcasing numerous documents from the Vatican archives.
Included in the document scans were photographs of “hunting coins,” which once garnered significant scientific interest, an image of a helmet from an ancient spacesuit, a depiction of a melted Vajra, and other scans of aged papers and manuscripts revealing numerous intriguing secrets.
One such document detailed the ongoing construction of an altar at the Vatican’s central square. At first glance, it appears typical—religious artifacts are expected in the epicenter of the Catholic realm. Yet, the document suggests that the altar is merely a small visible part of a larger structure, with an elevator extending several kilometers below the surface.
For a long time, the churchmen were unaware of the elevator’s existence. They mistook the altar for a sealed chamber containing a well filled with putrid and toxic water. In the 1870s, a decision was made to unseal the room and attempt to drain the water to cleanse the well completely.
