The “International Avian Influenza Summit” is set to take place in Washington, D.C., from October 2-4, aimed at preparing the nation with management strategies.
In recent years, the field of global medicine has advanced at an unprecedented rate, with frequent summits on a variety of topics making it challenging to stay informed.
For instance, in the past, during the celebrated 19th century, eminent scholars would convene in Switzerland every 100 years to agree upon a unified anatomical nomenclature. This nomenclature, known as the Basle Nomina Anatomica, was in use from 1895 until 1935. In 1935, the terminology underwent simplification due to the perceived decline in medical students’ capabilities, followed by further simplifications in 1955 and subsequent minor updates every decade. Despite the appeal of more frequent visits to Switzerland for free meals and socializing, such invitations to Basel ceased after 1998.
However, bird flu is a different issue – monthly summits are convened, and the principal one is scheduled for October 2 in Washington.
The summit has garnered attention from various media outlets in both America and Europe due to its similarities with an event that took place in New York shortly before the outbreak of the COVID pandemic.
Event 201 was a simulation involving a coordinated global response to a coronavirus conducted a few months before COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic in early 2020.
The event was co-hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, the World Economic Forum, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The COVID pandemic, which started in December, led some to speculate whether Event 201 was a precursor to an “orchestrated pandemic,” a notion others have labeled a “conspiracy theory.” Similarly, the upcoming avian influenza summit aims to convene experts, policymakers, and representatives from diverse sectors such as healthcare, veterinary science, epidemiology, and industry.

we address pressing concerns about recent
developments in avian influenza. With the emergence
of a highly virulent strain of avian influenza affecting both cattle
and humans, it is imperative that we come
together to discuss preparedness, response strategies and the
future implications of this evolving situation.”
The agenda of the meeting is designed to cover a wide range of issues related to various sectors affected by avian influenza.
As indicated in the summit’s agenda, the first day will feature a discussion on “mass mortality,” which seems unusual considering that only three or four individuals out of eight billion have succumbed to bird flu.
Therefore, on the fifth day, Tedros’s friend is scheduled to address “Dealing with Social Unrest and Public Unrest.” Following this, on the 17th day, it is evident that Tedros will take a period of rest.
The possibility of a bird flu pandemic emerging weeks after the summit, similar to the COVID outbreak following Event 201, is uncertain.
On one side, there is the “bird flu pandemic,” which has been widely written about, yet no one has suffered from this “pandemic.” On the other side, healthcare professionals are preparing to convene a summit to seriously discuss mass mortality, the quelling of social protests related to the “pandemic,” and military involvement in the matter.
Conspiracy theorists believe this is the moment they have been anticipating.
The exact timing remains unclear, but it is believed that nothing will commence until the end of October, after academics have thoroughly deliberated on the matter. As for what follows, the summit’s agenda is said to outline the forthcoming events.
