A zombie apocalypse from Nostradamus or a collision of two stars and a flash of “red nova”? If you believe the predictions of the end of the world, the near future promises to be bright. Most prophecies sound unreal, but there are some that have scientific basis. What if the irreparable happened, and we are no longer spectators of an apocalyptic disaster film, but their characters?
The end of the world has already begun
Before his death in 2016, American pastor Kenton Beshor predicted that the end of the world would begin in 2021. According to the pastor’s forecast, in 2028 there will be a second coming, after seven years of disasters.
The pastor claimed to have found the omen in the pages of the Bible. Among the indisputable signs of the end of the world, he called the two world wars and the founding of Israel.
Beshor’s followers are convinced that the first signs of the inevitable end of the world have indeed already appeared. According to them, a seven-year period of disasters has begun, which will be characterized by devastating events such as asteroid strikes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.
Some proponents of the theory, including another pastor, Paul Begley, attribute recent world events, such as the coronavirus pandemic and tensions in the Middle East, to the signs of impending doomsday.
Three apocalypses from Nostradamus
The French alchemist Michel de Nostradamus predicted the future of mankind in his almanacs. At least, that’s what the army of his followers thinks. Nostradamus’ forecasts even hinted at a coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Nostradamus did not escape his attention in 2021, making several predictions at once.
Thus, according to the alchemist’s predictions, in 2021 a global famine will begin. According to Nostradamus, this famine will be the largest in history, and will eventually end with a change in the social hierarchy, state power and world foundations.
“Fire and a long trail of sparks will be visible in the sky,” the alchemist wrote.
Followers of Nostradamus believe that in 2021 the Earth will be hit by solar storms, as well as an asteroid threat. The asteroid will either fall to Earth or pass very close to our planet.
Also for 2021, according to the almanacs of Nostradamus, a zombie apocalypse is planned.
A few young half-dead people will be the beginning
“Several young half-dead people will be the beginning. Parents and mothers who have died of endless sorrow, women in mourning, a poisonous monster: there will be no more, the whole world will come to an end,” the alchemist wrote.
This prophecy clearly sounds like a zombie apocalypse that will lead to the destruction of the whole world. Some followers of Nostradamus interpret the text as a prediction of a virus outbreak or a threat of a biological weapon.
A new star in the sky: another sign of the end of the world
Astronomers have discovered that on March 15, 2022, an inconspicuous star in the constellation Cygnus will probably become one of the brightest objects in the sky. The star will shine brightly for six months and then return to its previous state.
This is the object KIC 9832227, which still remains two stars. One of the stars is about a third the size of our Sun, and the other is 40% larger. They rotate so close that their atmospheres physically touch each other.
Recent observations have shown that the stars have already begun their deadly dance, reducing the distance between them. One revolution around the Earth in the stars takes only 11 hours.
When the stars finally collide, a so-called bright red nova is formed – a little-studied object that glows brighter than a standard new one, but is dimmer than a supernova.
Scientists believe that the light from the new star will double approximately every 19 days – until it releases its outer layers into space. This process will take about six months.
Ultra-Orthodox rabbi Joseph Berger believes that a new star in the sky will announce to the world the coming of the messiah. It is worth noting that Berger is a rabbi of the Temple of King David on Mount Zion and he dedicated his life to waiting for the second coming.
Berger believes that first of all the Messiah will expel the Muslims from the Temple Mount, and the Dome of the Rock mosque will be demolished. In its place, dreams Rabbi Berger, will build the Third Temple. The rabbi even prepared a copy of the Torah, which he was going to personally hand over to the Son of God.
Isaac Newton and the Epistles from the Bible
The English physicist, mathematician and astronomer Isaac Newton spent a lot of time searching for hidden messages in the Bible. Based on his research, the scientist concluded that the apocalypse and the Second Coming will occur in 2060.
“Newton was convinced that all future events were already determined by God. For him, 2060 was a new beginning: it may be accompanied by war and catastrophe, but eventually, will be the beginning of a new divine era,” – wrote the Austrian astronomer and writer Florian Fristetter.
In documents first published in 2007, Newton wrote:
“Everything may end later, but I see no reason to end sooner.”
Newton made bold predictions in articles published under the pseudonym Jehovah Sanctus Unus, which translates from Latin as “one true god.”
Despite the fact that Newton’s work on alchemy and the search for the date of creation of the world does not fit into scientific boundaries, Newton’s contribution to science and, in particular, to mathematics remains unprecedented.
Supervolcano eruption
The Geological Society of London has found that in 1 million years on Earth, there is likely to be a supervolcano eruption, which can be compared with the eruption of Tob, which occurred 75 thousand years ago. According to scientists, 3,200 km3 of magma could be released during a future eruption.
Although scientists know nothing about the erupting volcano, they can accurately describe the effects of the Toba supervolcano eruption.
The eruption of Toba caused a global volcanic winter that lasted from 6 to 7 years. Some scientists believe that the cooling lasted for 1 thousand years.
Geologist Michael Rampino and volcanologist Stephen Self claim that the average surface temperature has dropped by 3-5 degrees Celsius.
Another scientist, Alan Robok, says 6 billion tons of sulfur dioxide were released into the Earth’s atmosphere, and minimum temperatures dropped by 15 degrees during the first three years after the eruption. Such temperatures have persisted for decades, destroying life on the planet.
The Earth’s climate has recovered from such a powerful blow in a few decades, according to Robok, denying the theory of a period of 1 thousand years.
The impact of a giant asteroid
Stephen Nelson, a professor of earth sciences at Tulane University, estimates that an asteroid about 10-15 km in diameter falls to Earth every 100 million years. The same asteroid 66 million years ago caused the extinction of dinosaurs on the planet.
Objects larger than 1 km are believed to have catastrophic consequences, as the impact of such an asteroid causes global effects. Objects 1 km in size crash into the Earth about once every million years, and objects 10 km – about once every 100 million years.
In 2014, Nelson calculated the probability of the Earth colliding with large asteroids. He estimated the chances of dying from an asteroid or comet at 1 to 1,600,000. For example, the chances of dying in an accident are 1 to 90, in a fire 1 to 250, and from lightning – 1 to 135,000.
The scientist also estimates that the risk of dying from a large asteroid or comet impact is 1 in 75,000. The risk seems surprisingly high because massive objects cause mass extinctions. Most living organisms do not die from direct impact, but from side effects.
Whatever happens, do not forget: there are no insoluble problems. Humanity can handle anything – even the awakening of Cthulhu. It would rather destroy itself than let someone else do it.
