Shortly before the premiere of the documentary The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute by Minute, which is dedicated to the investigation of the tragic incident with the Titan submersible in June 2023, new data about the disaster appeared. Forbes published an excerpt from the tape, which for the first time provides a recording of sounds from a sunken underwater vehicle.
On the recording, rhythmic tapping can be clearly heard, apparently coming from the Titan. As CBC News journalist Ryan Cook says in the video, these sounds “changed everything” in experts’ understanding of the causes of the tragedy.
The authors of the video claim that the knock was recorded at the place where the submersible disappeared on the very first day – it was recorded by the pilot of a Canadian Air Force aircraft who was searching for an underwater vessel. At the same time, the same tappings were heard in the following days.
Anyone can listen to these mysterious sounds: the recording is posted on Youtube. Users are already actively arguing about what kind of sounds these are: some are convinced that this is how the victims of the disaster tried to call for help before dying, others write that it is more like a cracking sound. Many also point out that the passengers of the Titan died instantly, so they simply could not knock.
The real origin of the sounds has not yet been established, but it is already clear that the mysterious disaster of the “bathyscaphe with billionaires” has added more questions. Perhaps some of them will be answered in the documentary, which is scheduled to premiere this month.
Let us recall that on June 18, 2023, not far from the site of the wreck of the legendary Titanic liner, a bathyscaphe sank, in which there were billionaires: the founder of the Action Group company Hamish Harding from Great Britain and one of the richest people in Pakistan, Shahzada Dawood, as well as the latter’s son. Another member of the expedition was the submariner Paul-Henri Narjolet. The purpose of the descent was to inspect the wreckage of the Titanic, and the name of the bathyscaphe, by an amazing coincidence, turned out to be consonant with the liner – “Titan”.
Only a few days later, twisted fragments of the bathyscaphe were discovered at the bottom. Everyone on board died. Authorities immediately began an investigation, during which various versions of what happened were discussed.
At the moment, researchers are inclined to believe that the submarine was destroyed by an explosion directed inward, but it is possible that new data will force experts to change their opinion.
