It is easy to see that in the name of the main Human Enemy, the Devil, there is a Greek prefix -dia and the root -bal or -baal. It is written “Dїavolos” i.e. DiaBaal. In Spanish, for example, it sounds like Diablo, although the prefix is undoubtedly Greek.
All significant words, words of science and religion go back to the Greek language, the official language of the Roman Empire, and it is in it that we must look for answers.
By the way, in Greek the Devil is διάβολος. Historians believe that the word Baal probably used to mean simply God, from Semitic languages (Arabic, Syriac) this word is translated as master, owner, lord.
“And I will stretch out My hand against Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: I will cut off from this place the remnants of Baal, the name of the priests with the priests.” Soph. 1:4
For example, in the Syrian desert there are the ruins of Baalbek, where there is the root Baal and the Arabic word Bek – also meaning master, which together translates as the Big Lord, another Greek name for this place is Heliopolis and not in vain – this is one of the driest places on Earth. The sun god Elagabal, by the way, also has the root Baal or Bael. There are claims that this is the temple of Jupiter, although the temple of Jupiter would be placed in the capital of the empire, and not on the very edge of the desert.
Muslims believe that this is the palace of Solomon, built by demons and eight columns of this complex were sent to the construction of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. Those who built Baalbek are not at all those who lived there after, those who lived after could not even hold it – it constantly passed from hand to hand. And even in 2006, when the Israeli army attacked the territory of Lebanon, Baalbek suffered quite significantly.
The word Baal first appears in the Septuagint, in the Greek Old Testament. For example, in the Book of Judges, other gods are called Baals. But most likely all the Baals are one god with different names Baal-Khaddat Baal-Tsafon, Baal-Shanet, Baal-Hammon. Baal is some other god, the rival of Yahweh, whom the Israelites began to worship.
In the Goetia there is a mention of the demon Bael as the chief king over the 72 demons of Solomon. He is the king of the east (which is consistent with the Semitic worship and temple in the East) and rules over 66 legions of spirits. It is believed that he was the old master of Hell until Lucifer came.
Also, the demon Beelzebub is literally Baal – Zevuv, the lord of the flies. In the Grimoires of Honorius and the Keys of Solomon, he is responsible for invisibility and popularity.
Within the conspiracy theory framework, it can be pointed out that the Mount Athos of the North, the Valaam Monastery (an outpost of Russia within the lands of the Finns) does not come from the Finnish valomo (a high place) at all, but from the biblical name Balaam (who had the knowledge of the Most Sacred Name of God), which transformed into Barlaam, who fought the Israelis, and his name is probably related to Baal. Here is the prophecy of Balaam about Jesus:
“I see Him, but not yet; I see Him, but not close. A star rises from Jacob and a scepter rises from Israel, and strikes down the princes of Moab and crushes all the sons of Seth”—Num. 24:17
The prefix -DIA is quite complex and indicates a duration or process, such as the word diagnostics – where gnosis (knowledge), and with the prefix dia – knowledge. Or in the word dialogue, where the root is logos (word) and with the prefix dia – conversation. Also, dio is the number 2 in Greek or the second numeral.
Diameter, diaspora, dispute, diaphragm, dialectics – there are many words with this Greek prefix which has the opposite meaning, the other. There is also the meaning “to divide”, in the words diameter and diameros (meros is a part). But for example, Diagonal (gonia is an angle) is not just an opposite angle, but the line itself, a duration, a process drawn from one angle to another.
Thus, Dia Baal or Devil is not just another master, but also the fulfillment of the will of the master and even separation from him! See how interesting, a lot of related meanings, got the idea?
That is, the Devil is another separate or separated, separated God, fulfilling the will of the Lord. Its name contains its entire essence. The Greek language always preserve the essence of the word, its root and history, an amazing and surprising facr.
The sons of Israel, despite all the instructions, stubbornly begin again and again to serve Baal, and his faces Baalverif or Baalphegor. Even the descendants of the Wise Solomon are drawn to this demon.
3 Kings 16:32 “And he built an altar to Baal in the temple of Baal, which he built in Samaria.”
This stubbornness, frankly, is amazing, how can you put up temples for demons when God himself spoke with your fathers? Apparently, it was not in vain that Jesus came to them, to heal the lost and the sick. But the erring ones crucified him.
Here it is necessary to clarify, however, that for the people of that time Baal was on the same level with God, and had 450 prophets. Previously, the name Baal itself was used as the name of God, meaning Yahweh. Elijah called on the people to choose and decide which of them is God: the Lord or Baal.
And finally, we are obliged to point out the relatedness of the words Baal, El, Elohim, Allah. This is Al, El, El, Il – the divine root in all cultures and religions. This root is encrypted in such words as Israel or JabraIl. So it was really unclear to the ancients who was the real god YHWH or BAAL. And if Baal is the Lord God, then it turns out that Yahweh or Jehovah is Dia Baal, the Devil?
Thus, If Dia Baal is something bad, then Baal is obviously good? In mythology, it is Baal who fights Leviathan, the Crooked Serpent.
If the Devil is evil, then is Baal good or vice versa? They are both evil and you have to choose between them. The Bible directly states that if you serve Baal, you will anger the Lord of Israel. They seem to be on the same level, like equal demons. And if the servants of Baal did not exterminate the servants of Yahweh, then the latter did just that:
The king’s officials “demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.” (2 Kings 10:27)
Separately, it is noted that the places of worship of Baal in the Bible are very reminiscent of some pre-Christian temples: almost always it is an oak forest, an altar, usually an image of a bull or a calf. And the bull was among various pagans – a typical sacrifice. A sacred tree always grows near the place of worship, which the servants of Yahweh cut down.
“And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves cast images of two calves, and made an oak forest, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.“
By the way, the Cult of Baal, which scientists have not really discovered and not studied, meant the burning of the dead on the heights. Which again refers us to some pagan rites.
In the book of the prophet Jeremiah, the rite of passage through the fire is mentioned:
“They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind.“
There is a myth about how the nobility of Carthage sacrificed about two hundred children, trying to return the god’s favor. Then the city was under siege, and the people decided that Baal no longer protected them.
In 1921, urns with the remains of sacrificed animals and babies were found. However, already in 2010, researchers came to the conclusion that stillborn children, or those who died shortly after birth, were sacrificed.
Baal is mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible, always in a negative way:
“Jer. 7:9 How! you steal, kill and commit adultery, and swear in lies and incense to Baal?”
Here is a similar passage from the Koran:
“Will you call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators? – (125) Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
But if Baal is so bad, then who is the other Baal, Dia Baal?
