Duo has been living life to the full despite her condition.
Despite being born with a potentially fatal condition, the plucky little feline has so far defied all the odds.
Born three months ago, Duo was taken under the wing of San Diego veterinarian Dr. Ralph Tran after her unusual medical condition and appearance led her mother to reject her at birth.
She suffers from what is known as ‘Janus’ or diprosopus, which is different to conjoined twins in that it is caused by the overabundance of a facial development protein in the womb.
Duo has two faces with two mouths, two noses and a connecting eye in the middle.
Sadly her condition has made eating difficult and she needs constant care in order to survive.
“Each face fights to eat and as a result, most of the food just ends up in the middle eye and on her forehead,” her official Facebook page reads. “That’s why her forehead is now bald.”
Despite these problems however, Duo is surprisingly perky and is able to run and jump around like other kittens her age. She has also successfully defied the odds because most cats born with this condition typically only live for a matter of days.
“She may have her disability, she may have her challenges, but she loves life, she loves to play, she takes whatever is thrown at her and makes the best of it,” said Dr. Tran.
