Is Mark Zuckerberg preparing for the apocalypse? Businessman builds giant “top secret complex” with a $100 million bunker in Hawaii

Billionaire and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is preparing for the apocalypse. He is building an underground shelter as part of his secret project in Hawaii. Wired writes about this, citing the project documentation.

Against the backdrop of events taking place in the international arena, many billionaires and owners of large companies suddenly thought about their own safety and began to make rather strange decisions that could lead ordinary people to certain conclusions. Political experts fear the development of major international military conflicts, bluntly stating that the world is moving towards a new Cold War, which could turn into a hot stage at any moment.

Wired journalists have just become aware that Mark Zuckerberg is building a giant mansion in Hawaii, which, among other things, will have an autonomous bunker with an area of 5000 thousand feet, allowing you to survive almost any natural disaster, civil or nuclear war.

According to the publication, the construction of a residential complex called Koolau Ranch will cost Zuckerberg about $270 million. It will feature more than 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms, and a network of nearly a dozen tree houses connected by rope bridges so guests can move between them while “staying among the treetops.” Sounds luxurious? But that’s not all.

The residential complex consists of two mansions, which will be connected by a tunnel with an underground bunker. In addition to the emergency hatch, it will have massive doors filled with concrete and its own energy, food and water supplies. In such a bunker, Zuckerberg and his family will be able to survive a full-fledged apocalypse and live for many decades without denying themselves anything.

The shelter is already partially built and will be one of the most expensive custom construction projects in modern history. The dungeon will have everything: emergency exits, its own sources of food, and generally everything you need for a comfortable life.

Since 2014

Since the beginning of 2014, Zuckerberg began acquiring land on the northern coast of Kauai to create a private residential complex. According to the publication, the total area of the complex will be approximately 60 million square feet. Here, in addition to the bunker, it is planned to build two houses with a total area of 54,000 square feet with 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms.

Other exits and entrances in all buildings of the complex will be equipped with doors with push-button locks and soundproofing, while in the library, according to construction documents, a secret or “blind” door will be installed. Cameras are already “everywhere,” according to one worker, and plans show the smallest building alone has more than 20 cameras installed.

Everyone from carpenters to electricians to painters to security guards have signed non-disclosure agreements about what they are building and for whom. Different construction crews within the site are assigned to separate projects, and workers are prohibited from talking to other crews about their work. But everyone knows who is behind it. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, bought the land in several deals starting in August 2014.

“In a nearby forested area, it is planned to create a network of 11 disc-shaped tree houses, connected by elaborate rope bridges, which will allow visitors to move from one building to another,” the publication notes. The complex will also include a gym, swimming pools, sauna and tennis court.

Mark Zuckerberg started implementing this strange project for a reason. It can be assumed that he is clearly preparing for something, fearing that the world is on the verge of a new dangerous crisis. It also cannot be ruled out that this project is part of a new construction campaign with which Zuckerberg plans to expand his business and cash in on ordinary people who are worried about their safety.

Why build such a bunker?

By the way, Zuckerberg is not the first “tech titan” to build a house ready for the end of the world. Billionaires have their own quirks, but it’s not just Mark Zuckerberg who is preparing for the apocalypse among Silicon Valley businessmen.

Billionaires closely monitor the geopolitical situation in the world, and therefore may be aware of certain critical events that await the world community in the near future. This conclusion can be reached against the backdrop of the decision of top notch businessmen to begin the construction of underground bunkers on their own land plots.

Another famous businessman, Sam Altman, is also doing similar things. He has not yet become a billionaire, so he cannot afford something similar to Zuckerberg’s bunker, but he has already packed an emergency suitcase in case of a potential threat. Sam Altman keeps weapons, gold, antibiotics and gas masks in a cache. An ideal option that will help you endure the potential end of the world.

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman is not far behind. In one interview, he stated that he bought motorcycles, weapons and ammunition so that, if necessary, he could “hide in his house for a while.” He also had his eyesight operated on, because after the apocalypse he won’t be able to buy new glasses, and walking in them will be uncomfortable, but good vision is an important competitive advantage that will help him survive in the ruins of civilization.

LinkedIn co-founder Reed Hoffman once told New Yorker magazine that he estimates that more than half of Silicon Valley’s billionaires have invested in some type of “apocalypse insurance,” such as an underground bunker.
