It is difficult to combine technological progress with more traditional forms of spirituality, but this does not mean that it is impossible.

Max Khodak, an entrepreneur who co-founded the neurotechnology company Neuralink with Elon Mask, came up with the idea of a completely new religion. To feel the presence of God, he suggests using natural substances, according to Futurism.

“More and more people believe in the possibility of a new religion,” Hodak wrote on Twitter in response to Forte Labs founder Thiago Forte.

Forte noted that he had been an atheist for 10 years and realized that he was ready to learn a new religion. He began to look for one who would respect science, care for the poor, and not be evangelical or politically active.

Forte’s search led Hodak to an interesting idea. What if there was a religion that could embrace the “oddities” of mathematics and physics and be based on entheogenic substances (a general term for psychoactive substances) used for religious or spiritual purposes, including ayahuasca and LSD?

Needless to say, this is a rather unusual idea that comes from a man who became a co-founder of a company with the clear intention of gaining physical access to the human brain through a neurocomputer interface.

According to Hodak, such a religion could offer “moral practical guidance” as well as create a sense of community, something that people already receive through the church.

Other Twitter users who wanted to pick up the idea of the biomedical engineer said it may already exist as the Burning Man festival.

“The Man Burn should definitely be a high holiday in such a religion” he replied in the next tweet, referring to the huge “Temple” built during the eight days of the festival, which is burned to the ground on the last night.

In addition, many Burners, ordinary participants in the festival, are already able to accept the “oddities” because they use entheogens.

“Sometimes it’s hard to combine technological progress with more traditional forms of spirituality, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible,” Hodak said.
