Residents of Chinese Inner Mongolia were able to observe five suns in the sky during dawn. This phenomenon requires a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius below zero.
A video of the phenomenon was published by the Chinese media with the caption: “What a spectacular sight! Five suns shine in the sky over Inner Mongolia.”
This phenomenon is called pargelium, a type of solar halo. A rare optical illusion occurs when the rays of the sun pass through a suspension of flat hexagonal ice crystals in the sky. For the appearance of the phenomenon, a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius below zero is required.
The publication has become viral. The phenomenon struck users of social networks. “I felt uneasy,” “Wow, what is it?”, “Wow, I can’t believe my eyes,” users write.
One of them asked: “Is it because of air pollution?”
It was previously reported that residents of the Chinese city of Khorgos in Xinjiang Province, thanks to a rare occurrence, saw three suns in the sky. Local residents were shocked by the unusual optical phenomenon and uploaded pictures and videos to social networks.
